Independent Shellfishermen’s Cooperative (Bridlington) Ltd was founded in 1996 by a group of local fishermen who wanted to work together to create a stronger market for their catch. Working together enabled them to open up new markets by combining their catch to sell wholesale. All our shareholders are involved in the fishing industry and all the boats that land to us are their own independent businesses.

Fishing is not just a job, it is a way of life. Many fishermen come from families who have been working the sea for generations. Others feel a calling to the sea when young, start as crew and work up to owning their own boat.
